As member of the Hunger Commission, State Rep. Lisa Hernandez (D-Cicero) had the opportunity to take the youth group Y.I.C.E., Youth Initiative for Civic Engagement, on a tour of the Chicago food depository facility on Saturday, Oct. 29 to provide them with the opportunity to learn about efforts to fight hunger in the community.

“The youth group is an initiative from my office and one of their first projects we put together is a food drive to help the local shelters gather enough food for those less fortunate,” Hernandez said. “The tour provided students with the opportunity to learn about the importance of organized efforts to combat hunger and what we as community leaders can do to help.”
