This winter season enjoy Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn White Dr., by snowshoeing and/or cross country skiing during select dates Saturdays and Sundays beginning December 2, 2011 through February 26, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There must be at least three inches of snow.

Families can circle the 91- acre peninsula on their snowshoes or cross country skis. While circling the island look for winter birds, winter native animals, or enjoy the incredible view of Chicago’s skyline. During the following dates Northerly Island will have snowshoeing and cross country skiing available:

• December 2, 17, 18
• January 7, 8, 14, 15, 22, 28, 29
• February 4, 5, 11, 12, 19, 25, 26
