Recent allegations have emerged regarding Sen. Annazette Collins of the 5th District. Alleged ethical mishaps have been noted by the Chicago Sun-Times as well as by Secretary of State Jesse White. Sen. Collins must answer allegations that she didn’t live in her district and awarded legislative scholarships to students outside the district in violation of state law for legislative scholarships.

Dr. Patricia Van Pelt Watkins, 5th Senate candidate, openly challenges Sen. Annazette Collins to a series of debates. The Van Pelt-Watkins campaign will schedule four topical debates concentrating on: Ethics, Job Creation, Crime/Public Safety, and Education. “I am committed to the 5th district voters. Our residents deserve to be informed because this election is about informed choice,” said Candidate Watkins. A location and time has yet to be determined.
