State Senator William Delgado (D–Chicago) met with Chicago Public Schools Chief Executive Officer Jean-Claude Brizard to discuss what he sees as the future for CPS. “My goal in this discussion is to try and get a clearer understanding of what the plan is for CPS going forward. Right now all we are seeing is confusion and division,” said Senator William Delgado, a founding member of the Chicago Educational Facilities Task Force.
The meeting was to allow Senator Delgado to bring his personal concerns, and the concerns of the community, to the table. Specific issues they discussed include discipline in schools and the suspension of students, working to find some common ground through open discussion, and involving the local communities impacted by the decisions being made by CPS.
