‘Fiestas Puertorriqueñas’ Reduces Festival Days

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - BusinessThe Puerto Rican Parade of Chicago recently announced that it would downsize the amount of dates for its annual Fiestas Puertorriqueñas. This very popular festival, now in its 30th year, will be reducing the festival dates from six days to four. “Festivals, nowadays, request a donation from the public to help offset the expensive costs of hosting a festival and our organization has chosen to reduce the length of the festival in order to save money and provide quality programming and entertainment,” said PRP President Angel Medina. “With the recent budget cuts we want to be sure that we work hand in hand with the City of Chicago in ensuring that our festival remains a safe family event,” said Medina. Fiestas Puertorriqueñas continues to be the largest Latino Music Festival in the Midwest attracting over 1.5 million spectators to its festival. Fiestas Puertorriqueñas will be held June 14 – 17, 2012
