This year will mark Mexico’s 150th anniversary of the battle in Puebla over the French forces otherwise known as Cinco de Mayo in the United States. While this day is not Mexico’s independence as many tend to think, it has become a widely celebrated holiday across our nation. Here are only a few of the events and celebrations taking place this weekend in our lovely City of Chicago.
For all you runners out there, register for this weekend’s Cinco de Miler. Race day is Sunday, May 6th with a tentative start time of 9:30am. Participants will complete a 5k taking place at Montrose Harbor. The lucky top three male and female from overall finishers will be awarded a “Cinco de Miler” sombrero! And after you can quench your thirst with a margarita…or two! For more information please visit, www.cincodemiler.com
