New Art Program for Teens

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsThe Teen Creative Agency (TCA) is an exciting new program at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) Chicago that partners with teens and positions contemporary art as a resource to make sense of art, themselves, and their world. The goal of TCA is to support teens in developing their critical interpretation, public speaking, and cultural participation skills. Launched in September 2011 by Elena Goetz, Manager of Youth and Family Programs in the MCA Education Department, this rigorous two-year program is for creative and curious individuals between the ages of 15 and 19 who are interested in becoming interpreters of contemporary culture. TCA is currently accepting applications for new teen participants to start this fall, while the first group moves to the second year of the program where they work actively as cultural participants, including leading public talks in the MCA galleries for visitors and organizing an event at the MCA for other teens.
