This weekend, take advantage of the festivities the city has to offer. From outdoor festivals to tequila tasting and Father’s Day celebrations, there is something for everyone this weekend.
The 47th annual Puerto Rican Day Parade will take place on Saturday June 16 at 12 pm on Columbus Dr. and Balboa Dr. The Parade will feature floats, music, folk dancers and salsa dancers. Other outdoor festivals taking place in the Chicago land area this weekend include The Taste of Randolph Street, Chicago Pizza Fest and 6 Corner BBQ Fest. All events will feature outdoor venders, live music and of course, plenty of food.
Brookfield Zoo will hold an all-you-can-eat barbecue on Father’s day, Sunday, June 17 at noon. Cost for non-member adults is $49 and $35 for children. Attendees must register on the zoo’s Web site in advance.
Other events taking place this weekend include a tequila tasting at Zocalo restaurant, Thursday, June 14 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm in the River North neighborhood; a tribute concert to Hector Lavoe by the Angel Melendez Orchestra on Saturday, June 16 at 9 pm at the Mayne Stage in Rogers Park; and the 10th annual Diaspora International Film Festival will begin Thursday, June 14 and run through Thursday, June 21 and showcase films from South Africa, Brazil, Cuba and the US.
