Women in Film Chicago present an evening with Hollywood director, writer, and producer Carmen Marron. The event will take place from 6p.m. to 8p.m., Wednesday, July 10th at Moe’s Cantina, 155 W. Kinzie Street.
Marron is a native Chicagoan and grew up in Logan Square, attending Lane Tech High School and DePaul University. Her first movie “Go For It!” was filmed in the Logan Square area, and in 2011, was released by LIONSGATE. In 2013, Marron finished directing a new film titled ENDGAME, which is currently in post-production.
Born to Mexican immigrant parents, Marron never intended to be a filmmaker until she was struck by the lack of positive role models for at-risk students while working as a counselor in Phoenix, Arizona. Marron says Go For It! (Goforitmovie.com) has opened doors for her and she is now working on other projects including ENDGAME. Inspired by true events, ENDGAME is a coming-of-age story about a young boy who joins the school chess team, and with the help of his coach, embarks on a journey of self-discovery, team spirit and the importance of family.
