Money Smart Programs At The Chicago Public Library Assist Residents On Financial Matters

In partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, The Chicago Public Library (CPL) continues its free series of Money Smart programs this February, designed to give participants the skills to control their financial futures.

The Asset Allocation and Tax Benefits for Higher Education programs will take place at the Harold Washington Library Center Video Theater, Lower Level at 400 S. State St. The Small Business Tax Workshop will take place at CPL’s Roosevelt Branch located at 1101 W. Taylor Street.

Money Smart: Asset Allocation for 2014: More Important Than Ever!
Sharon Egan, MBA, CFP®, presents the importance of asset allocation in reorganizing portfolios and gives tips to begin 2014 financially organized.

Thursday, February 13 at 12 p.m.
Money Smart: Tax Benefits for Higher Education
Learn how federal tax benefits, available for higher education, can help offset some of your college expenses. Sergio Guzman, IRS, presents current tax provisions and who may qualify for them.

Wednesday, February 26 at 6 p.m.
Money Smart: Small Business Tax Workshop
This workshop is for new and prospective business owners. Sergio Guzman, IRS, presents the basics of business taxes, the different types of small business organizations and tax returns.
