Maggie Rivera’s election to the League of United Latin American Citizens as the organization’s national vice president of finance made her one of the highest-ranking women officeholders in LULAC.
Rivera announced her presidential candidacy last week, at a national board meeting in Washington, DC, where in the past many other national presidents had presented their candidacies.
After spending a driven first year in office focusing on LULAC’s finances, solidifying her base in Illinois, traveling around the USA and Puerto Rico to buttress her Hispanic responsiveness policy credentials as a member of LULAC National Board.
Maggie spent much of 2013 visiting and speaking to LULAC members around the country and Puerto Rico in addition to mulling whether to run for LULAC President in 2014.
From February through early July, 2014, Maggie Rivera and other contestants will battle fiercely until elections on July, 2014 in the LULAC National Convention in New York City.
