Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, White Sox Announcer and kidney recipient Ed Farmer, and White Sox players Alexei Ramirez and Alejandro De Aza encouraged Illinois residents to become organ and tissue donors on Tuesday afternoon at the James R. Thompson Center. April is National Donate Life Month. Secretary of State White is traveling across Illinois to promote organ and tissue donor awareness. In Illinois, more than 5.5 million people have signed up for the registry, but every year about 300 people die waiting for an organ or tissue transplant.
