Recently the United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) announced Solskin Gómez-Krogh as UNO’s new Chief of Staff, a title Gómez was thrilled about. “I have worked in leadership roles for the past 15 years and I am greatly looking forward to my new role as Chief of Staff at UNO,” said Gómez. “It is a wonderful organization that has strong ties to the community. I am very excited about my new position.”
In her latest venture, Gómez will be responsible for assisting the CEO in executing a strategic plan to ensure the success of UNO and its additional organizations. Prior to joining the ranks at UNO, Gómez served as Executive Director of the Chicago Chapter where she led operations, events and activities of the Chicago Chapter, managed relationships with nearly 100 major corporate partners and organizations. “What I have enjoyed most in the last 15 years was the ability to work at the grassroots level; to figure out what the needs of the community are and to be able to provide services to them. That is what continues to keep me motivated. To bring about change,” said Gómez.
Gómez harnessed her innate passion for helping others when she attended DePaul University to earn her MBA in International Business Management. “I always felt international. I am Latina and I am also Dutch. I always felt connected to both. So to me, earning my MBA in International Business Management was a way to bridge my passion for helping others and my heritage together,” said Gómez. Among her many accolades, Gómez was named one of the 2011 Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders by Diversity MBA Magazine. “Being a leader is a great way to give back to your community. Whether you are a leader in your family by providing positive examples, or a leader in your local community organization, participating in leadership roles is what really propels your community in a positive direction.”
With her new role at UNO, Gómez is ready for whatever challenges come her way. “My background has helped me prepare for this moment, so I am ready to do a great job at UNO and hopefully make our families proud.”
