Non-profit representatives from Corazón Community Center, Gads Hill Center, El Valor, and Logan Square Neighborhood Association, to name a few, held a press conference and panel discussion Monday morning at Roberto Clemente High School, 1147 N. Western Ave., to talk about the affect the budget impasse is having on families, particularly low-income families, across the state. Among the topics during the panel discussion were child care and early childhood services, immigrant integration and welcoming centers, homeless services, and domestic violence. Senator Iris Martinez and Representative Lisa Hernandez were on site to listen to testimonials of people affected by the budget impasse and urged Governor Rauner to end the budget impasse and restore investment in services for low-income individuals.
