Street vendors are a local tradition, especially in destinations like the Little Village neighborhood along Chicago’s 26th Street. This style of dining has been around for many years because it offers an affordable, colorful culinary experience that often centers on unique foods and friendly interaction with the host vendor. Restaurateur Marcy Gomez frequently ate street food with her family and hoped to find a way to offer an assortment of these local delicacies from one place. After a few years of research, Parad-Ice was born. Parad-Ice, Berwyn’s newest snack shop located at 6816 W Windsor Ave, held a grand opening celebration on September 10 in partnership with the City of Berwyn and Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC). Parad-Ice serves an ample selection of foods and drinks. The menu includes a wide array of refreshments including Seattle-based Caffe Umbria coffee drinks; old fashioned hot chocolate made with real chocolate, cinnamon and milk; and fresh pressed juices and smoothies that are made-to-order from a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Additional information on the Parad-Ice Grand Opening can be obtained through the Berwyn Development Corporation at (708) 788-8100.
