Metra is operating special schedules ahead of and for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. On Wednesday, Nov. 25, Metra will operate extra “get-away” trains so that its customers can get an early start on their holiday plans. “The holidays are meant to be spent with family and Metra wants to make traveling to them as easy as possible,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “Extra early service and our holiday tickets give Metra customers greater convenience and flexibility during this special time of year.” In addition to the extra service the night before Thanksgiving, Metra is also making travel for the holiday and for Black Friday shopping even more affordable by offering a special $8 unlimited ride holiday ticket for use on both Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. Trains will operate on Metra’s holiday schedule on Thanksgiving and operate regular weekday service the day after Thanksgiving to accommodate Black Friday shoppers. Metra’s BNSF Line to Aurora will also offer a special weekday schedule with more mid-morning inbound service to accommodate Black Friday shoppers. Schedules are attached to this release and can be found online at www.metrarail.com.
