Working class tenants of Albany Park unveiled a new community-wide anti-gentrification program aimed to help those who have allegedly been evicted by Barnett Capital LLC, according to a member of Centro Autónomo. The rally is the second in a series of planned actions to urge Barnett Capital to grant residents a one year lease. According to a study by Centro Autónomo to be published this month, Barnett Capital has been purchasing properties, evicting tenants of color, and charging working class families high rent. According to the organization, 200 to 600 families are displaced from Albany Park each year.
