Now it its third year, Chicago’s treasured Switch on Summer will return Saturday, May 6th at Buckingham Fountain, an event that will feature organizations, such as Shedd Aquarium and Brookfield Zoo, to officially welcome Spring by turning on the Buckingham Fountain. To help celebrate, Switch on Summer annually welcomes a local band to kick-off the night and this year, with the help of a social media contest, FUZE was selected to headline. FUZE brings together different genres of music inspired by artists like Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix. Jesse Tobias, FUZE’s vocalist and bass guitar player, spoke briefly to Lawndale Bilingual News about what to expect Saturday night.
Lawndale Bilingual Newspaper: Congrats on headlining Switch on Summer. What are you feeling?
Jesse Tobias: We are very excited. It was a surreal moment when we found out…especially since we will playing at Buckingham Fountain because it’s just an iconic landmark. It’s an important place here in the city, so the fact that we will be playing there is truly a dream come true.
What is FUZE?
FUZE is an eclectic sound that fuse’s all of our musical inspirations from Los Lonely Boys, to Jimi Hendrix, to Carlos Santana. We play rock music, salsa, oldies, and cumbia. Our music is for people to let their hair down and just dance and have fun. We are eight guys from different cities who love to play.
