Enjoy the wintry weather alongside the Brookfield Zoo’s snow- and cold-loving animals for the zoo’s annual FREEze Day on Sunday, February 11th. The day will be filled with dogsledding runs along with other winter events and animal fun – all for free admission. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., zoogoers can join members of the Green Valley Dog Drivers and their furry, four-legged friends for dogsled demonstrations on the zoo’s West Mall. During this time, mushers and their pups will answer questions about the one-of-a-kind sport. As guest stroll around the zoo, they’ll have a chance to listen in on special zoo chats hosted by animal care staff. These informal talks will highlight some of winter’s most popular animals. At 11 a.m. on the West Mall, find out about the red-tailed hawk and other birds of prey. Then venture to Great Bear Wilderness for a chat about polar bears at 11:30 a.m. Immediately following at noon, discover interesting facts about the Mexican gray wolves, including a recovery program for the species that the zoo participates in. Finally, at 2:00 p.m. venture across the park for a chat about one of the most elusive cats in the world—the snow leopard.
