Chicago Public Schools Chief Executive Officer Janice Jackson and City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado announced that nearly seven thousand CPS students will receive letters this month notifying them of their eligibility for the Star Scholarship, an increase of more than 15 percent since its launch. Star Scholars represent students from more than 75 zip codes and over 160 high schools citywide. There are currently nearly three thousand Star Scholars enrolled at City Colleges. The Star Scholarship was created to provide CPS graduates from all economic backgrounds access to a viable pathway to college with the opportunity to pursue a degree or certificate at no cost. Transfer scholarships range in value from $2,500 to nearly $50,000 each year, and more than $1 million has been offered to Star Scholars through these transfer partnerships to date. Participating schools include: University of Illinois at Chicago, Columbia College, DePaul University, Dominican University, Governors State University, Illinois Tech, Loyola University, National Louis University, North Park University, Northeastern Illinois University, Northwestern University, Robert Morris University, Roosevelt University, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Chicago, Saint Xavier University, Kendall College, Marquette University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Illinois State University.
