Recently, more than 915,000 Walmart U.S. hourly associates across the country received a share of more than $200 million in cash bonuses based on their stores’ Q2 performance. Across Illinois, associates received over $7.5 million and Chicagoland associates earned over $2.7 million in Q2 bonuses. Walmart associates earn quarterly bonuses as part of an overall incentive plan designed to reward associates whose stores achieve sales and customer service goals. The bonuses were included in each associate’s September 6th paycheck. The recent strong sales and traffic figures build on the positive momentum of the U.S. business, which has enabled a positive local impact across Chicagoland through associate bonuses, wage increases and innovation and improvement to stores. Notably, Walmart recently launched the first three Pickup Towers in the Chicago market at Supercenters in Aurora, Waukegan and Zion. Pickup Towers function like a high-tech vending machine, retrieving customers’ online orders in less than one minute.
