U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, the senior senator from Illinois, endorsed independent Democratic Cook County Commissioner candidate Abdelnasser Rashid on Monday in the southwest suburban 17th District over Republican appointee Sean Morrison. Abdelnasser Rashid is an independent Democrat running for Cook County Commissioner in the 17th District to be a voice for working and middle class families who continue to face growing hardships and high property taxes.  Rashid fought for property tax relief for homeowners and small businesses while campaigning to elect a new property tax assessor, Fritz Kaegi. As Deputy Chief of Staff for Cook County Clerk David Orr, he was dedicated to making government more efficient, ethical and transparent. Rashid, 29, lives in Justice with his wife, Fidaa, an attorney and former Worth Library Board Trustee, and their two young daughters, Alia, 3, and Zulfa, 1.
