Less than a week after President Trump delivered a State of the Union address filled with anti-immigrant rhetoric, City of Chicago’s Legal Protection Fund organizations celebrate their continued commitment to protecting immigrants, DACA students, and keeping families together in Chicago. “At Instituto we are making sure all students are equipped with the resources they need to protect themselves and their families under the current administration,” said Karina Ayala-Bermejo, President and CEO of Instituto Health Science Career Academy. “We applaud the City of Chicago for its continued investment in this effort and urge Illinois to invest in keeping Illinois families protected.” The program has trained over 400 community navigators, who have reached over 50,000 immigrants with Know Your Rights Trainings. The Chicago Legal Protection Fund, which includes The Resurrection Project, Centro Romero, State Representative Lisa Hernandez, and Congressman Chuy Garcia held a training session on February 9th at 9a.m., at Instituto Health Science Career Academy, 2520 S. Western Ave. For more information about The Resurrection Project, please visit www.resurrectionproject.org.
