McDonald’s and Congressman Danny Davis kicked-off the summer hiring season with an event showcasing recent enhancements to Archways to Opportunity, McDonald’s comprehensive education program on Tuesday morning. Archways to Opportunity provides eligible U.S. employees an opportunity to earn a high school diploma, receive upfront college tuition assistance, access free education advising services and learn English as a second language. McDonald’s recently announced it will enhance its signature education program by tripling tuition assistance for restaurant employees, lowering eligibility requirements from nine months to 90 days of employment, and dropping weekly shift minimums from 20 hours to 15 hours. Since Archways to Opportunity launched in 2015, more than 1,700 restaurant employees in Illinois have been awarded more than $3 million in tuition assistance. The latest changes to the program will allow many more employees to take advantage of the program.
