SOS Children’s Villages Illinois Breaks Ground on Roosevelt Square Community Center

Wintrust, Maestro Cares Foundation, CHA CEO Eugene Jones, Jr. Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez, Alderman Jason Ervin, Project Architect Juan Moreno, community advocates, and SOS Illinois families joined SOS Children’s Villages Illinois, a non-profit, child-welfare agency that serves at-risk youth and children in foster care, to break ground on the Roosevelt Square Community Center on Tuesday, June 11th at 13th Street and Blue Island Avenue. The construction of the 11,000+ square foot facility, designed by internationally recognized architect Juan Moreno, will serve the children and families at SOS Illinois’ Roosevelt Square Village and residents of the surrounding neighborhoods. The community center project, once complete, is anticipated to serve over 5,000 individuals annually from University Village, Lower West Side/Pilsen, Little Village, North Lawndale, and other surrounding neighborhoods. SOS Children’s Villages Illinois, founded over 25 years ago, is a 501(c)3 child welfare agency that provides a stable home in a supportive, community environment designed to help children in need grow into caring, productive, and self-reliant adults.
