At the request of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, La Casa Norte has created an additional 50 overnight beds for youth confronting homelessness. Their overnight beds and Youth Drop-In Center is currently open 24 hours, seven days a week at the McCormick YMCA and, with the assistance of the Salvation Army, provides two hot meals a day for youth. Additionally, La Casa Norte’s Community Café and Fresh Market in Partnership with Lakeview Pantry is still open every Monday and Wednesday to provide a hot meal and fresh groceries for the community. Access to food and shelters have become limited as many food pantries, grocery stores, restaurants, and all non-essential businesses have closed or shortened their hours. To contribute to La Casa Norte’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, visit http://donatenow.networkforgood.org/lacasanorte or text LCNCOVID to 76278. If you need assistance or more information, call (773) 276-4900 or email info@lacasanorte.org.
