Halina Nowak celebrated her 25th anniversary as a Community Savings Bank employee in May. She is one of many long-serving employees of the bank. Many employees have served Community and its customers for 20, 30 or even 40 years. Nowak lived in the Cicero-Belmont neighborhood for over 40 years. She spent time previously as a secretary for a major corporation and applied for a position at Community in 1995. After interviewing at the bank, Nowak didn’t hear from her interviewer quickly. Wanting the job, Nowak called back to ask her status and clarified she was available for a full-time position. She was immediately hired as a teller. After 4 years, Nowak moved to the New Accounts department, where she has remained for the last 21 years.
According to Nowak, “I think Community is a wonderful place to work. Management and staff have the same goals of providing knowledgeable account information along with friendly, personal service. I like working in New Accounts because we serve a diverse clientele including older customers who I enjoy giving a little extra help.” Nowak also assists customers in the IRA Department when needed and orders supplies for various departments at the bank. Dane H. Cleven, President and Chairman said: “Since Halina is bilingual in Polish and English she is an invaluable member of Community’s staff. In addition to serving in New Accounts, she has many other duties that ensure the bank runs smoothly. We appreciate her 25 years of dedicated service helping customer with their banking needs.” Community Savings Bank is a member of the FDIC and is an equal housing lender.
