The last three months have marked a period of change worldwide. These trying months have created a time of hardship and learning for all. Between fearing for health and safety, and becoming closer than ever, all while distanced, and witnessing tragic deaths due to systemic racism, Trinity is determined to roll out their commitments to bring change over the 2020-2021 school year to better life on and off campus for all students and faculty. Trinity, known for its International Baccalaureate Program, has an ever-evolving curriculum. After attending a week-long seminar at the National Civil Rights Museum, the Social Studies department chair, Julie Klein, is overseeing her colleagues compile a growing list of teaching materials and resources to be embedded into the curriculum of any class possible.
Changes at Trinity:
1. Trinity will be adding a Human Resource professional to oversee best practices for hiring and professionally reviewing all of the staff diversity and inclusion policies.
2. The faculty will be trained in the use of Diversity-Responsive Teaching Strategies and will be under a year-long observation by the principal. Faculty will be monitored on how well they are reaching all students’ and needs.
3. In the coming months at Trinity, an anonymous Climate Survey and listening sessions will become available to all students and parents.
4. Trinity is also soliciting insight, experiences, and stories from alumnae and alumnae parents to fully inform our knowledge of our history, so as to move forward in a knowledgeable manner.
5. Trinity is learning about Restorative Justice as an alternative to traditional discipline structures.
