Before the kids head back to school, take a “staycation” at Brookfield Zoo for Kids’ Free Days, sponsored by Xfinity. On August 2, 3, and 4, children 11 and under are admitted free. (Admission for adults and parking fees still apply.) Families can visit their favorite animals, including the polar bears, African lions, orangutans, and the new wallaby joeys at Hamill Family Wild Encounters. Or, see a Dolphins in Action presentation, take a spin on The Carousel, or feed the giraffes (extra fees apply). On the plaza south of The Carousel, youngsters can also meet a few of the zoo’s animal ambassadors from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Current protocols include all guests over the age of 2 to continue wearing face coverings while indoors. Before arriving at the zoo, guests are encouraged to visit CZS.org/KnowBeforeYouGo to review guidelines and get updates on what buildings are open. On Kids’ Free Days, Brookfield Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission for adults is $24.95 and $19.95 for seniors 65 and over. Parking is $15. For further information, visit CZS.org.
