Due to the management of Cook County Commissioner Frank J. Aguilar, cities and towns throughout Cook County’s 16th District are receiving a major influx of funds for infrastructure projects. Although only being in office since April of 2020, Commissioner Aguilar has met the moment of a once-in-a-century pandemic head-on to ensure fellow residents are protected from COVID-19 in the present, while helping city officials acquire the funding needed to improve their communities in the future. The “Invest in Cook” grant program distributed just under $8.5 million throughout 61 projects in Cook County.  Townships represented by Commissioner Aguilar received the largest portion of those funds, totaling over $1.6 million. According to the “Invest in Cook” program description, “[these] grants help municipalities further their transportation projects by covering the cost of planning, engineering, right-of-way acquisition and construction associated with transportation improvements sponsored by local governments and private partners.” Commissioner Aguilar was instrumental in connecting District 16 townships and cities with the information and resources needed to secure funding from the “Invest in Cook” grant program. These projects support and enhance the community that they are located in, connects with Cook County at-large, and brings cohesive and substantial infrastructure investment to each township and community represented by Commissioner Aguilar.  The coordinated efforts between Commissioner Aguilar and local townships to secure this infrastructure funding will facilitate individuals’ comfortable reentrance to the community, without leaving anyone behind.
