The Left Has Taken Over the Democratic Party
By Daniel Nardini
This is one of the reasons why I left the Democratic Party almost 11 years ago. I saw the political left starting to take over the party. Just as the evangelicals and many right wing organizations had taken over the Republican Party under U.S. presidents Ronald Reagan (1981-1989) and George W. Bush (2001-2009), so too have leftist organizations been spreading their tentacles into the Democratic Party. To give some perspective of what is happening, there are four Democratic Socialists of America members who are members of the U.S. House of Representatives in the U.S. Congress, and 39 members of the Democratic Socialists of America who are elected state officials. If current trends continue for the Democratic Socialists of America, they will double their representation in the U.S. Congress in every election cycle through the Democratic Party.
But this is just one element of the political left in the Democratic Party. The whole political movement Black Lives Matter was very instrumental in helping the Democrats win in the 2020 presidential election, and Black Lives Matter helped put into office an African American named Cori Bush as an elected congressional official of Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. Without Black Lives Matter, the Democratic Party would have had a very tough uphill battle against former U.S. President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. But in doing everything they did for the Democratic Party to win, now they want the Democratic Party to do everything for them. I have made my point; the Democratic Party has been lurched leftward and this has radicalized its agenda and is breeding a dangerous kind of authoritarianism. Former Democratic House Representative Tulsi Gabbard is one of the few former Democrats who is horrified at the direction her party is taking, and is openly speaking out against this. She sees her party as having become obsessed with holding on to power at whatever costs, and not even caring if it costs American lives. But she is a voice in the wilderness.
The election for governor in Virginia, and the fact that the Republicans won, should have been a wake-up call for the Democrats. Instead, the Democratic Party has been pursuing an even more radical agenda because the political left which has infiltrated its ranks are indeed pushing for a more radical agenda. And we are seeing this in Democratic states with lock-downs, restrictions, mask and testing mandates, and the loss of civil liberties. We are also seeing higher inflation especially in the Democrat-controlled states and major cities, higher unemployment, definitely higher crime rates, and social dislocation as more people move out of Democrat-controlled states. It all seems to be in the name of creating a “more equitable society,” and “destroying the roots of racism and the capitalist system.” It seems that the radical left in the Democratic Party is determined to create a socialist, Marxist society. All of this is leading to a groundswell of extreme voter anger against them that will most likely sweep them from power. Need I say more?
