A fire gutted an apartment at 3118 S. 48th Court early Friday morning but was quickly extinguished by the Cicero Fire Department, Fire Chief Michael Piekarski said. No one was injured in the six-unit apartment building but eight residents of the building have been given temporary housing provided by the Town of Cicero until they can return to their apartments or make other living arrangements. Arrangements were being made by Maureen Carroll director of Family Outreach. One apartment have serious fire damage. Several others had smoke damage, which can be cleaned up so residents can return to those apartments. “We are grateful to our firefighters for their fast response in emergencies to protect our residents,” President Larry Dominick said. “The Town of Cicero will always help residents who are displaced from their homes because of fires and other home damage until they can make other arrangements for housing through relatives or their homes and apartments are cleared to return.” Fire Department investigators are on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
