The Cardinal Bartolucci Choir, direct from Rome will perform a selection of sacred music of Papal celebrations and favorite well known arias from Italian operas. For almost fifty years, Cardinal Bartolucci, the ‘musician of the popes’, oversaw the music of the sacred liturgies of the successors of St. Peter. He became known among the various musical chapels of the Papal Basilicas and in 1956, at just 39 years old, Pope Pius XII bestowed upon him the prestigious office of Perpetual Maestro and Director of the Sistine Chapel Choir. During this first-time ever visit to Chicago, under the patronage of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (Vatican); the Choir will perform at the following venues. The choir’s main performance will be at Northeastern Illinois University on Friday April 22, 2022 at both 11:30am, for students and teachers and an evening performance for the general public at 7:30pm.
