As students return to the classroom this autumn, don’t forget the best classroom of all—the great outdoors! Visit the Forest Preserves of Cook County for programs and events that will teach you how to navigate friendly waterways in a kayak, try your hand at archery, hike trails with interpretive guides, and much more. For younger visitors, the Forest Preserves’ nature play areas are great places to play hide-and-seek, maneuver over stumps and rock trails, and explore the wonders of nature. This autumn, the Forest Preserves is planning several special events, including Party for the Preserves at Miller Meadow-South and Schubert’s Woods on Sept. 24, Fall Color Walks at Sagawau Environmental Learning Center throughout the season, the Annual Arts and Crafts Fair at Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center on Oct. 2, and more! Opportunities abound for Cook County residents to get outside and experience the beauty of nature during autumn. Visitors should call or check fpdcc.com/events for any updates regarding all events.
