The Chicago Architecture Center announced it will have the first holiday exhibition in its history on view in its Skyscraper Gallery. City in a Snow Globe on view starting November 17 is designed by the Chicago architecture firm UrbanLab and consists of five individual scale models of winter scenes that visitors can peer into. They include Polar Bear Plunge accommodations, monumental snow men, winterized displays at Buckingham Fountain, plus more novel and exciting ways to inhabit the lakefront in Chicago’s winter. The Chicago Architecture Center’s holiday programming will include a Winter Wonderland Lego Workshop for kids on Saturday, December 3. A festive family workshop that will explore buildings suited for frosty environments. Kids will explore the five individual scale models of winter scenes on display in the City in A Snow Globe and then have an opportunity to create their own icy structure to complete a winter wonderland that will be reviewed by a special guest – a beloved snow queen. All supplies for this workshop will be provided at no cost to children 12 and under, including hot chocolate and cookies.
