LVCC 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade
The Little Village Chamber of Commerce 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade has begun. Join the LVCC on Saturday, Sept. 16th where the parade will continue its tradition by kicking-off from the historic Little Village Arch located on 26th St., and Albany Avenue and proceed down 26th Street to Kostner Ave. The parade’s theme “Tu Mexico, Tu Chicago,” will focus on Mexican identity and culture. Teatro Vista Presents “¡BERNARDA!”
Teatro Vista, Chicago’s premier Latine theatre, announced their Fall production, ¡BERNARDA!, an audacious new take on Federico García Lorca’s classic “The House of Bernarda Alba,” directed by Teatro Vista Producing Artistic Director Wendy Mateo and written by Emilio Williams. ¡BERNARDA!, co-presented with Steppenwolf at the 1700 Theater (1700 N. International Latino Cultural Center Presents Chicago Latino Dance Festival
The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago proudly presents the inaugural Chicago Latino Dance Festival, a four-week celebration of the rich variety and versatility of Iberoamerican dance. Over 30 Chicago-area groups will participate. The Chicago Latino Dance Festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 17th from 2p.m., to 8p.m., at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St. For more information, visit www.latinoculturalcenter.org
Morton Arboretum Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
The Morton Arboretum will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Hispanic from September 15th to October 15th with cultural programs, a Celebracion de los Arboles festival, and opportunities to learn about its scientific work to protect and conserve threatened trees and ecosystems in Latin America. Steppenwolf Theatre Company Presents Sanctuary City
Steppenwolf Theatre Company, 1650 N. Halsted St., announced its 48th season with the Chicago premiere of Sanctuary City, Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok’s (Cost of Living, Ironbound) harrowing and hopeful tale of immigration and young love, directed by Steph Paul.
