Thanksgiving Day Parade
It’s turkey time! The Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, a local tradition for almost 90 years, kicks off the holiday season with a fun-filled morning in the heart of downtown Chicago. Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place on Thursday, Nov. 23rd on State Street.
Christkindlmarket
The traditional German-Style Christkindlmarket returns! The free outdoor holiday market has been a Chicago favorite since 1996. Enjoy international and local food, merchandise, and live visit from Santa Claus himself! The market runs through December 24th at the Daley Civic Center.
Lightscape at Chicago Botanic Garden
Embrace the beauty of winter and discover the brightest spot for holiday cheer during Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Lightscape runs through January 7th at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Christmas Tree Lighting in Cicero
The Town of Cicero Tree Lighting ceremony will take place at Cicero Community Park from 4pm until 7pm with the actually lighting turned on at 5pm this Sunday Nov. 26, 2023 in conjunction with winter in the Park celebrations.
Beyond the Nutcracker at the Athenaeum
A classic holiday tradition comes to Chicago this season. Join Emma and Uncle Abrahms as they embark on a miraculous journey through time and discover what Christmas is all about. Immerse yourself in the magical choreography of Ballet 5:8 Artistic Director Julianna Rubio Slager, featuring the professional artists of Ballet 5:8. Beyond the Nutcracker will take place at the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture, 2936 N. Southport Ave on Saturday, Nov. 25th at 2pm and on Sunday, Nov. 26th at 3pm.
Elf in Concert
Buddy was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves.
