Not letting Chicago cold stop the outdoor adventures this year, Chicago Electric Boat Company, the city’s premier river boat rental operator that has brought exciting vessels like Retro Boats, Cycleboats and Donut Boats to the Chicago waterways, has officially announced the launch of private Hot Tub Boats as the newest way to enjoy the river this winter season. Launching from their Marina City location (300 N State Street), the heated six-person boats will center cruises on the main branch of the Chicago River for iconic skyline views, taking riders as far east as Michigan Avenue and as far west as Wells Street. The relaxed, slow-moving vessels are propelled by a small motor and directed with a tiller (an easy-to-maneuver hand lever) on the back of the boat, and feature underwater lights as well as a section where you can sit up above the water. Food is not allowed on board, but BYOB drinks with floating cup holders and complimentary coolers are available. Of course, no cruise would be complete without some jams, so waterproof Bluetooth speakers will also be provided for music during the cruise. Customers are encouraged to bring towels/flip flops, and they will be available to purchase on the dock. Swimsuits will be strongly encouraged, but if unavailable shorts and a T-shirt will suffice, but nudity will not be tolerated. Cruises will operate Wednesday through Sunday, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an extended end time of 9 p.m. on Saturdays. Prices for Hot Tub boats are $250 on weekdays and $315 on weekends for 90-minute cruises. Reservations will be available on, www.chicagoelectricboats.com.
