It’s time for Chicagoans to lace up their sneakers and hit the pavement in support of wildlife here in the city and all over the world! Lincoln Park Zoo’s annual Run for the Zoo returns for its 46th year on Sunday, June 2. All proceeds from the race help keep Lincoln Park Zoo free and open to all, as well as support the zoo’s world-class animal care and global conservation efforts. Runners—and walkers—of all abilities are welcome at Run for the Zoo. The chip-timed 5K and 10K courses are U.S.A. Track & Field-certified, and there is also the option to walk the 5K route. This is a family-friendly event, with a special Kids’ Course for the little sprinters ages 3 to 8 years old. Registration for the in-person 5K and 10K options are expected to sell out. Those looking to still support the zoo and get some miles in are encouraged to register for the virtual runs, with the option to pick up packets in person or have them shipped. The theme for this year’s medal and race shirt is the western lowland gorilla. New this year, every Run for the Zoo registrant will receive a unique medal along with the annual race shirt and other post-race goodies. To learn more about the zoo, visit lpzoo.org.
