As students are prepping to head back to school, we have compiled a list of back-to-school bashes happening all around the city to make the school year ahead a little brighter. The back-to-school bashes will include health screenings, backpack giveaways, food, and community resources. The events are free for families.
Latino Organization of The Southwest
Latino Organization of the Southwest invites you to their 2024 Resource Fair on August 17th from 10a.m., to 2p.m. held at 4051 W. 63rd St., Chicago. The event will feature free haircuts, face painting, raffles, and free backpacks for the first 100 kids (kids must be present). For more information, call 773-581-1900.
SGA Youth and Family Services
SGA Youth and Family Services will be hosting a Back-to-Festival on August 17th at Brighton Park, 3152 W. 47th from Noon to 3p.m. The event will have backpack giveaways, family related fun, food vendors and so much more. For more information, call 312-481-1430.
New Roseland Community Hospital
The New Roseland Community Hospital will once again host their annual Back-to-School Health Fair on Sunday, Aug. 11th located at 45 W. 111th St., Chicago. The back-to-school health fair will feature school physicals, vaccinations, dental exams for ages 4-17, and hand out free backpacks with school supplies, and much more. Back-to-School Health Fair
State Senator Omar Aquino and State Representative Lilian Jiménez will host their annual Back-to-School Health Fair on August 10th where parents and families in need of school supplies, health services, youth programs, are invited to attend. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Prosser Career Academy, located at 2148 N. Long Ave. in Chicago. Food and refreshments will be provided while supplies last.
Back-to-School Bash at Unity Park
Step Into the Time Machine and Travel Through Decades. Join in for an unforgettable Back-to-School event like no other at Unity Park. Get ready to journey through time and experience the best of every decade, from the Roaring Twenties to the Nineties, all in one day. The bash will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24th from 1p.m., to 4p.m., at Unity Park, 1900 S. Kostner.
