In a pivotal moment for the Latino community, the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) hosted a dynamic DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Town Hall and mural unveiling at The Salt Shed on September 5, 2024. More than 150 diverse professionals gathered to discuss the pressing challenges facing DEI programs, underscoring the urgency for action as national efforts, such as The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, threaten to reverse hard-won progress. The town hall, moderated by HACE President & CEO Patricia Mota, featured a diverse panel of leaders who highlighted the critical importance of DEI in today’s workforce. Panelists included Carlos Herrera, VP of DEI at Ryan Specialty; Yadira Sanchez, Executive Director of Poder Latinx; Karen Freeman-Wilson, President & CEO of the Chicago Urban League; and Anna Mok, Co-Founder and President of Ascend Leadership. Together, they delivered powerful insights on how organizations can protect and sustain DEI efforts amidst political and economic uncertainty.
