Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Business

The Cook County Clerk’s Office is increasing free legal assistance for property owners who have questions concerning their property deed, chain of title, or other land records, through a unique partnership with a Chicago legal aid organization. The Clerk’s Office offers a Legal Help Desk to assist customers who have legal questions about the services provided by the Clerk’s Recording Operations Division through a partnership with the Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL). The Legal Help Desk will now be offering extended hours two days per month to customers, who are asked to call in advance or sign up online to schedule their visit. The Clerk’s Recordings Division is responsible for recording, storing, and maintaining land records and other official documents for Chicago and suburban Cook County. Beginning this week, Help Desk assistance will be available every other Wednesday at the Clerk’s Office downtown location at 118 N. Clark Street in Chicago. Customers are asked to call in advance or register online to schedule the date that they would like to come in for services. To schedule Help Desk services, email recording.helpdesk@cookcountyil.gov, or call 312-603-5050.
