The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago announced today the program for the 2nd Annual Chicago Latino Dance Festival, a three-week celebration of Chicago’s thriving Iberoamerican dance scene. Nineteen Chicago-area groups will take part in this three week event, representing a cross-section of styles, regions and influences including Mexican Aztec dances, the Venezuelan joropo, Panamá’s tamborito, the Puerto Rican bomba and plena, the Maracatu and Coco de Roda from Brazil’s northeast region, and indigenous dances from Ecuador’s Kichwa nations. The three-week festival will be held from October 17 to November 1 in three venues: Wilbur Wright College, 4300 N. Narragansett Ave. (Thursday, October 17); the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, 4048 W. Armitage Ave. (Friday, October 25); and the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn St. (Friday, November 1). Admission to the festival is free, with a suggested donation of $10. The full calendar follows.
