The Chicago Park District just announced the release of its 2025 budget recommendations in advance of its public budget hearing as required by District Code. The proposed $598.5 million budget unveils a series of priorities focused on the needs of families and builds resilient communities by investing in youth engagement, community-driven programs and events, workforce development, sustainability initiatives, and infrastructure. The 2025 Budget avoids a property tax increase, while supporting added investment in youth opportunities, workforce development, enrollment in programs and activities, as well as sustainable initiatives across the District. The District held an in-person and a virtual meeting for the general public as well as targeted outreach and virtual meetings with various stakeholder groups, including teen, volunteer and partner groups that shared valuable input on their parks. The 2025 budget recommendations reflect the public and online comments and suggestions provided. Chicago Park District General Superintendent & CEO Rosa Escareño will officially present the 2025 Budget recommendations during a public budget hearing to be held Wednesday, November 20th at 9:30 a.m. at the Chicago Park District Administration Building, 4830 S. Western Ave. The Park District Board of Commissioners will vote on the 2025 budget recommendations during its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 11th at 10 a.m. The Chicago Park District’s 2025 budget recommendations can be viewed online at www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/annual-budget-process.
