Howard Brown Health, the Midwest’s leading health center dedicated to inclusive care, announced the appointment of Dr. Travis Gayles, MD, PhD as its new Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Gayles brings a wealth of expertise and experience, having served as both Chief Health and Medical Officer for large public and private health entities. Having led transformative public health initiatives throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving health outcomes, addressing disparities, and fostering innovation—making him uniquely equipped to guide Howard Brown Health into its next chapter. The extensive and deliberative nationwide search prioritized finding an experienced leader deeply connected to healthcare, the LGBTQ+ community and the Chicago area as a whole. Dr. Gayles will officially begin his role as CEO on March 3rd, 2025. In his new role, Dr. Gayles will leverage his extensive leadership experience to guide Howard Brown Health in its mission to eliminate health gaps. As CEO, he is committed to growing the organization’s impact as a citywide, regional, and national leader in addressing health inequities and combating misinformation. Under his guidance, Howard Brown Health will continue to be an educated, evidence-based voice for the communities it serves, moving the needle in advancing equity. As the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary, Dr. Gayles’ appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Howard Brown Health.
