CPS Unveils New Elementary School

Belmont-Cragin Elementary School and Early Childhood Center hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting on Tuesday morning for a school that serves 500 students and offers a dual language program as well as a fine arts curriculum. The Belmont-Cragin Elementary and Early Childhood Center is a new 83,000 square ft. facility, located on the corner of Fullerton and Meade Avenues, and offers students access to a black box theater, a music room, a library, and art room, and 32 modern classrooms with scenic views of Riis Park. The dual language curriculum allows students to become bilingual in both English and Spanish while the fine arts program allows them to expand their creativity. In attendance were Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez, Alderman Ariel Reboyras, 30th Ward, and Principal Jorge Mario Melgar, Belmont-Cragin Elementary and Early Childhood Center.
