The Town of Cicero together with the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee held its annual Cicero Queen Pageant.  “Cicero is very proud of its Latino population and especially the Mexican community which is well represented in our government and among our employees,” said Town President Larry Dominick. The Cicero Queen Pageant Dinner took place on September 7th at the Cicero Community Center. There were three participants this year: Carla Mesinas, Emily Apango and Maylin Zacarias.  This year each participant represented a different state in Mexico. Carla Mesinas represented Oaxaca. Emily Apango represented Mexico City/Toluca. Maylin Zacarias represented Michoacan. The pageant judges were Isabel Ramirez, the Parent Liaison for District 99. Juan del Real, Vice President of the Cicero Chamber of Commerce. Vicky Aguilera, a long-time radio and TV personality. The Cicero Queen Pageant Program included an introduction for each of the participants, a talent performance, a culture show, a gala dress and finally a question. After some time deliberating the judges entered the winners name in an envelope. Maru Ayala, President of the Mexican Cultural Committee crowned Emily Apango as the 2023-2024 Miss Señorita Fiestas Patrias. Emily Apango, Miss Señorita Fiestas Patrias will be at the Mexican Independence Day Parade on Sunday, Sept. 17th.
