Cicero Police Dept. Arrest Minor in Connection to a Vehicular Hijacking, Armed Robbery Spree

The Cicero Police Department (CPD) announce the arrest of a 13 year old minor, of Chicago, Illinois, for Attempted Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking and Unlawful use of a Weapon which occurred on September 28, 2023. Officers responded to two (2) separate Vehicular Hijackings which occurred on the 1400 Block of 61st Avenue. Victims stated that a White BMW with no registration stopped when three (3) armed male black offenders exited the vehicle and demanded their vehicles.  The armed offenders then committed four (4) additional robberies and fled the scene.  Shortly thereafter, the same armed offenders committed two (2) additional robberies in the area of the 1500 Block of 61st Avenue. Officers quickly gathered information on the last known direction of travel, at which time Tactical Officers observed the White BMW and our two (2) vehicles which were stolen.  A pursuit ensued, at which point one of the stolen vehicles crashed in the City of Chicago.   After a short foot pursuit, Officers were able to place one of the offenders into custody without incident.  A weapon was recovered in the stolen vehicle.  The other two (2) vehicles made good on their escape and the investigation is still ongoing. The Cook County State’s Attorney Office Juvenile Screening reviewed the investigation which approved one count of Attempted Armed Robbery, five counts of Armed Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking and one count of Unlawful Use of Weapon.   The minor was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and detained.
