Town of Cicero leadership testified in front of the Illinois House Energy and Environment Committee during a subject matter hearing titled “Protecting Chicagoland: Regional Solutions to Building Flood and Climate Resilience.” Witnesses included Town of Cicero President Larry Dominick, Cicero Water Department Director Lido Manetti, and School District 99 Board Chairman Tom Tomschin.  “This catastrophic event had a profound impact on our community, and I believe it is crucial to share my perspective so that we may work together with the members of these panels to devise a regional solution that will aid our constituents for the decades to come,” said President Larry Dominick in testimony submitted to the committee. The flood that occurred was of unprecedented magnitude, causing extensive damage to our infrastructure, homes, and businesses. It was a heartbreaking experience for our residents, many of whom lost their property, possessions, and livelihoods…Despite the challenging circumstances, our community came together in a remarkable display of resilience and solidarity.” President Dominick also relayed the steps the Town of Cicero took to address the immediate needs in the aftermath of the historic July flooding, including communications, clean up, disaster relief, and more provided by the Town and its partners.
