From dazzling fireworks to neighborhood festivals, the City will be buzzing with unforgettable events. Here’s our roundup of some of the events happening in Chicago this Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day Parade
After a wreath is laid at the eternal flame in Daley Plaza at 11am in remembrance of those who died serving in the U.S. armed services, Chicago’s annual Memorial Day Parade marches down State Street (from Lake to Van Buren streets) beginning at noon. Crowds line the street waving flags and paying their respects as part of this Chicago tradition, which dates all the way back to 1870.

Navy Pier Fireworks
Enjoy Chicago’s beloved sky spectacle show every Wednesday night at 9pm and Saturday night at 10pm, from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend. Gather your loved ones and head to the Pier to witness this breathtaking free event. Immerse yourself in the stunning visuals accompanied by a mix of dramatic and popular music, including some special occasion soundtracks. It’s an experience the whole family will cherish.

Mole de Mayo Festival
Join Economic Strategies Development Corporation (ESDC) for their annual Mole de Mayo Festival, the only outdoor mole cook-off event celebrating Latino culture and Mexican cuisine. Since 2009, ESDC has kept up with time-honored tradition, local chefs and restaurants will face off and vie for the coveted title of “Best Mole” and “People’s Choice” award. Mole de Mayo Festival takes place May 24th-26th.

Randolph Street Market Festival
Find the best art, antiques and vintage decor, ephemera, vintage and indie designer fashion and jewelry, vinyl, global goods, fancy and fun foods – thousands of top-quality goods presented by dealers from around the country at this fancy European style flea market festival. Randolph Street Market Festival will be on May 25th and May 26th.

Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest
Expect to have a blast at this popular 39th annual street happening on Sheffield Avenue in the heart of the Lakeview neighborhood (and just steps from the Belmont El station). Don’t miss top local tribute bands on the main stage (near Roscoe), great eats, libations (beer and wine) and artisans. Also expect an eclectic “community” entertainment stage near Belmont filled with fun neighborhood music acts, deejays and other performers. Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival runs from May 24th through May 26th.
